The Indian Railways has created a historic milestone by securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest railway platform globally. This recognition has been earned by the newly constructed platform No. 8 at Hubballi station in Karnataka, which measures a remarkable 1507 meters in length. The achievement is a source of immense pride for both Indian Railways and the Hubballi-Dharwad region, as it signifies their ability to meet the future transportation needs of the city. The construction of the Hubballi station, which cost Rs 20.1 crore, was part of the remodeling of the Hubballi yard. The remodeling was commissioned with electronic interlocking in February 2021, which addressed the need to hold and run additional trains in the future. The new platform has also eliminated the bottleneck caused by single-line working towards Gadag, Davangere, and Londa. Now, express trains can enter and exit the station without any detention, saving time for passengers. In addition to the existing five platforms, three new platforms have been added to the station, making it more efficient and enhancing its operational capacity. Two trains can now be started in two directions simultaneously from the longest platform, further improving the station's efficiency. The South Western Railway zone has also completed the electrification of the Hosapete - Hubballi - Tinaighat Railway line at a cost of Rs. 519 crores. The route passes through several districts in Karnataka and links steel and thermal power plants with Mormugao Port in Goa. Electrification of the double-line track will make the route pollution-free and carbon-neutral. Also, it will allow for annual savings of more than 2,50,000 kiloliters of diesel and Rs 250 crore. The construction of the longest railway platform in the world at Hubballi station and the electrification of the Hosapete - Hubballi - Tinaighat Railway line are significant milestones for Indian Railways. Assam has etched its name in history by creating the world record for the largest online photo album of handwritten notes, a tribute to legendary Ahom commander Lachit Barphukan. The collection was compiled by the Government of Assam to mark Lachit Barphukan's 400th birth anniversary on February 1, 2023. The Guinness World Records recognized the feat and congratulated Assam on its remarkable achievement. Lachit Barphukan led the Ahom army in the Battle of Saraighat, which successfully halted the Mughal invasion led by Ramsingh I. After Jaydhway Singha signed the treaty of Ghilajharighat with the Mughals, Chakradhway Singha, his successor, prepared for a full-scale war to retrieve the lost territory. In 1667, Lachit Barphukan was selected as the commander and given the title of Barphukan. He led a ferocious campaign, destroying many Mughal outposts till Guwahati and controlling the fort for two months. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the students and others who contributed tributes to the Ahom General. The CM tweeted his admiration for the youngsters of Assam, who have demonstrated their affection for the legendary commander. Ladakh has made history by breaking a world record for organizing the highest half-marathon on a frozen lake. The event took place on Pangong-Tso lake, which is located at an altitude of 13,862 feet above sea level and is spread across the Indian and China border. The saltwater lake is frozen with ice during winter, and the temperature can drop as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. Despite these challenging conditions, the event was a grand success, with 75 participants completing the four-hour-long marathon. The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, the Ladakh Tourism Department, and the Leh district administration worked together to organize the event. It was organized by the Adventure Sports Foundation of Ladakh (ASFL). In border settlements in eastern Ladakh, the marathon sought to promote sustainable winter tourism and create employment possibilities for locals, particularly during the winter months. To enhance their running fitness, the participants endured a six-day acclimatization period that included two days in Pangong and four days in Leh. The records approved by Elite World Records LLC, USA are — Most Number of Origami Models (102) by an individual (Minor-Female) in 20 minutes, and Most Number of Ceramic Tiles (350) Broken By an individual (Minor-Female), in 20 minutes. The previous record was held by a North Korean who broke 262 ceramic tiles. Sahruda’s mother Sailaja said that her daughter is very observant, has a good memory and always tries to excel in whatever she does. She is a green belt in Karate and she practiced breaking tiles which are 5mm thick from her teacher. Sahruda was trained in the art of origami by her mother. She made 102 models using only her hands and papers without the use of glue. Sahruda said that the idea behind the record was to spread the message of a plastic-free society. Apart from excelling in academics, Sahruda actively participates in extracurricular activities. She learns painting, athletics, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, skating, abacus, robotics and ballet classes among others. When asked what she would like to do when she grows up, she answered that she would like to become an astronaut and lead the Indian Space Research Organisation. Uttar Pradesh Government Finds Place in the Guinness Book of Records

To commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, the Uttar Pradesh Government distributed 66,000 trees simultaneously within a stipulated time and found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records. The UP chief minister who was present at the Ganga-Yamuna confluence in Allahabad said that the state government set four records on Friday. Tree Plantation The CM informed that five crore plants were planted simultaneously from 9 am to 10 am. Kasganj witnessed the plantation of more than one lakh saplings in the presence of Governor Anandi Ben Patel. 22 crore saplings were planted in a day and 66,000 saplings were distributed at the same place within a certain time period. Guinness Record According to a state spokesperson in Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh CM received the certificate for the distribution of 66,000 plants simultaneously in a stipulated time frame from the officials of the Guinness World Records. The plantation drive got underway when the Chief Minister planted ''Harishankari'' at Jaitikheda area in the morning. He also unveiled the logo of ''Vriksharopan Mahakumbh''. Later, he announced that 25 crore saplings would be planted in the Van Mahotsav next year.

Vadodara enters the Guinness Book for cleanliness record

On Sunday, Vadodara found a place in the Guinness book of World Records as over 5,000 people carrying brooms cleaned up the Akota-Dandia Bazaar Road, thus making a record for the maximum number of persons simultaneously cleaning a public place. Earlier the record was held by Mexico when in February, this year, 1,767 persons had cleaned a public place. Vadodara's record was recognized by Guinness Book of World Records (GBWR) and a certificate was given to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). Dr. Vinod Rao, municipal commissioner said that they had organized this event to spread awareness about cleanliness in the city and to encourage people to keep their city and surroundings clean. He stressed that although it is the duty of the VMC to keep the city clean, the citizens are also collectively responsible for the city's cleanliness. Nearly 50,000 people witnessed this event. The citizens also pledged to keep the city clean in presence of Mayor Bharat Dangar and Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt. It is a matter of great pride for Vadodara that it was ranked in top ten among 434 cities and towns that were surveyed and ninth amongst the 72 cities with a million plus population. Rao said that this event was a celebration of that achievement.

He began his journey on June 20, 2025, and after eight days of hard trekking through snow and ice, he stood at the top of the mountain on June 28. With this feat, Teghbir set a world record as the youngest person ever to climb Mount Elbrus.Mount Elbrus: Europe’s Highest PeakMount Elbrus, rising to 5,642 meters (18,510 feet), is the highest mountain in both Russia and Europe and the tallest volcano in Eurasia. It is known for its severe weather, heavy snow, low oxygen levels, and extremely cold temperatures. It is not an easy mountain to climb; even professional climbers find it challenging. The temperature at the summit often drops to minus 10 degrees Celsius or lower, and the lack of oxygen can make breathing difficult. But despite these dangers, little Teghbir remained determined and steady. He faced this enormous challenge with courage, supported by his loving family and a skilled team. The Preparation Behind the ClimbThis climb was not a sudden decision. Teghbir had been preparing for it for nearly a year. His father, Sukhinderdeep Singh, explained that they began his training with the help of retired coach Bikramjit Singh Ghuman. The temperature was around minus 20 degrees Celsius, and they had to walk for six hours in complete darkness and cold. At exactly 7:56 am on June 28, Teghbir stood at the top of Mount Elbrus, holding his father’s hand and smiling for the camera. It was a moment of pure joy, one that the family will never forget. Recognition and RecordAfter reaching the summit, Teghbir received a certificate from the Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, and Sports Tourism Federation of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic in Russia. It confirmed him as the youngest summiteer of Mount Elbrus in the world at just 6 years, 9 months, and 4 days old. He broke the previous record held by Wagah Kushagra of Maharashtra, who reached the summit last year at the age of 7 years and 3 months. Kaviya Giridharan, a 26-year-old woman from Sundakamuthur, Coimbatore, has become a local hero for her remarkable act of donating breastmilk to newborns in need. Over the course of a year, Kaviya has donated an astonishing 150 liters of breastmilk, providing vital nourishment to infants who lack proper maternal care. Motivated by the plight of newborns facing health challenges, physical limitations, and even the loss of their mothers during childbirth, Kaviya embarked on a mission to ensure their well-being. Despite being a mother herself to a one-year-old toddler, she dedicated herself to donating breastmilk while educating others about lactation and pregnancy-related issues. As a childbirth educator and internationally certified lactation consultant, Kaviya runs an NGO called Magilam Moms, which connects like-minded women and mothers. Together, they visit educational institutions in the state, spreading awareness about the importance of breastfeeding. Kaviya's selfless efforts have not gone unnoticed. She has been recognized by Kalam's World Records for donating a staggering 110 liters of breastmilk in just seven months. His parents, G Ramakrishna, a police sub-inspector and G Devayani, a pharmacologist and homemaker, noticed his curiosity and started teaching him alphabets, colors, vegetables, fruits, etc. at the age of two. World’s largest free kitchen Langar, as it is traditionally called is the world’s largest free kitchen which serves an average of 1 lakh people every single day. The crowd rises to 1.5 lakh on holy days. This concept was started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Ji to nurture the principle of equality amongst all the people irrespective of their gender, colour, caste, religion, creed and age. Anyone who visits the Golden temple can eat there for free. A wholesome vegetarian meal is served by the volunteers working there. It was measured in Jamnagar on 25 December 2014. The flute was made by continuous one and a half month efforts of Kinjal Kansaria’s group. During the Golden Jubilee function of Pranami Dharma Acharya Pith, an artist performed National Anthem on the flute and thousands of people attended the event to watch the show. World’s largest wearable turban The largest wearable turban is worn by an Indian named Major Singh from Amritsar. He is a Nihang Sikh among whom there is a common practice of wearing a round turban also called a dumaala. But Major Singh wears a turban which is 400 meters long and requires 100 hairpins. He wears 51 religious metal symbols on the turban. The turban weighs 35 kilograms which is 10 kilograms more than the second largest turban.

This Gentleman Breaks His Own World Record on His 96th Birthday!

Ray Woolley refuses to get old. He is a World War II veteran who on his 96th birthday, created a world record of becoming the oldest active scuba diver in the world breaking his own previous records of 2017 and 2018. Celebrating 96th Birthday In Style On his 96th birthday, Ray Woolley set off to explore the crash site of a cargo vessel, the Zenobia, which was carrying 108 trucks when it sank off of Larnaca in 1980. That is when he reached a depth of 42.4 metres for 48 minutes, breaking his own previous record of 40.6 meters for 44 minutes. The event was organized at Larnaca which is a popular dive site. Woolley was accompanied by 47 other divers that made this dive very special for him. It is interesting to see the underwater images of Woolley and other divers sitting on the hull of the wrecked ship and watching fishes and an occasional turtle swim by. Life Begins At 90 Woolley has been diving for 59 years and he is willing to continue to dive if his health and friends permit. There is a documentary made on him titled 'Life Begins at 90' which will premiere at the Bosnia-Herzegovina film festival in September. Woolley who is originally from northwest England now resides in Cyprus and served as a radio operator for the British during World War II. This act of scuba diving at 96 is no less than an admirable feat performed by Woolley for whom age is only a number.
