To commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, the Uttar Pradesh Government distributed 66,000 trees simultaneously within a stipulated time and found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records.
The UP chief minister who was present at the Ganga-Yamuna confluence in Allahabad said that the state government set four records on Friday.
The CM informed that five crore plants were planted simultaneously from 9 am to 10 am. Kasganj witnessed the plantation of more than one lakh saplings in the presence of Governor Anandi Ben Patel. 22 crore saplings were planted in a day and 66,000 saplings were distributed at the same place within a certain time period.
According to a state spokesperson in Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh CM received the certificate for the distribution of 66,000 plants simultaneously in a stipulated time frame from the officials of the Guinness World Records.
The plantation drive got underway when the Chief Minister planted ''Harishankari'' at Jaitikheda area in the morning. He also unveiled the logo of ''Vriksharopan Mahakumbh''. Later, he announced that 25 crore saplings would be planted in the Van Mahotsav next year.
