In an awe-inspiring display of power and precision, Indian badminton sensation Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has etched his name in history by securing a remarkable Guinness World Record. With a jaw-dropping smash reaching a blistering 565 km/h, Satwik has eclipsed the previous record held for almost a decade by Malaysian badminton star Tan Boon Heong, who achieved a speed of 493 km/h.
The smashing achievement came hot on the heels of Satwik and his partner Chirag Shetty's glorious triumph at the Indonesia Open Super 1000. Riding high on success, Satwik pushed his limits and left the badminton world in awe with his astonishing feat. Surprisingly, the 565 km/h speed even surpassed the top speed of 372.6 km/h recorded by a Formula 1 car.
The world took notice as Yonex, the renowned Japanese sports equipment manufacturing company, officially recognized the accomplishment. "Yonex is proud to announce that Yonex badminton athletes, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND) and Tan Pearly (MAS), have set new Guinness World Records for the fastest male and female badminton hits," the company stated in a release.
To ensure the authenticity of the feat, the world record attempts were meticulously verified by official judges from the Guinness World Records. On April 14, 2023, Satwik's extraordinary smash took place in a controlled environment at the Yonex factory gymnasium in Soka, Saitama, Japan.
This groundbreaking achievement cements Satwiksairaj Rankireddy's position as one of the most formidable and record-breaking badminton players of our time.
