World’s most expensive suit
The suit worn by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at former United States’ President Barack Obama’s visit to India was auctioned at an astounding price of Rs. 43.13 million. This made the suit as the world’s most expensive suit auctioned till date. The suit had India’s Prime Minister’s name, ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’ monogrammed on it in stripes. It was bought by a diamond baron Lalji Tulsibai Patel who is from Surat. The making charges of the suit were Rs. 10 lakh and the base auction was given Rs. 11 lakh.
World’s largest free kitchen
Langar, as it is traditionally called is the world’s largest free kitchen which serves an average of 1 lakh people every single day. The crowd rises to 1.5 lakh on holy days. This concept was started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Ji to nurture the principle of equality amongst all the people irrespective of their gender, colour, caste, religion, creed and age. Anyone who visits the Golden temple can eat there for free. A wholesome vegetarian meal is served by the volunteers working there. It requires an immense quantity of raw materials for the same like the 12,000 kilos of flour, 1,500 kilos of rice, 2,000 kilos of vegetables and so on. Almost 2 lakh rotis are made daily. The kitchen is never closed and pilgrims can halt there to have their meals even late night.
Most films produced
India has made the record of producing the highest number of feature films a year. Indian film industry is the second oldest film industry in the world about 103 years old and is the largest producer of films. Indian film industry is mainly ruled by Bollywood. It is multilingual and has Indian cinema in different languages too like Tollywood for Telugu, Mollywood for Malayalam, Sandalwood for Kannada and so on. There are also films in Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Assam, Bhojpuri, Bangla and so on.
World’s largest playable flute
The record for this is held by Bharat Sinh Parmar, Charunsudan Atri Jay Bhayani, and 5 Navtanpuri Dham. The flute is 3.63 meters in length. It was measured in Jamnagar on 25 December 2014. The flute was made by continuous one and a half month efforts of Kinjal Kansaria’s group. During the Golden Jubilee function of Pranami Dharma Acharya Pith, an artist performed National Anthem on the flute and thousands of people attended the event to watch the show.
World’s largest wearable turban
The largest wearable turban is worn by an Indian named Major Singh from Amritsar. He is a Nihang Sikh among whom there is a common practice of wearing a round turban also called a dumaala. But Major Singh wears a turban which is 400 meters long and requires 100 hairpins. He wears 51 religious metal symbols on the turban. The turban weighs 35 kilograms which is 10 kilograms more than the second largest turban.
