In an astonishing feat, a 16-year-old girl named Srushti Sudhir Jagtap has shattered the world record for the longest dance marathon. Hailing from Latur, Maharashtra, Srushti danced tirelessly for an impressive duration of "five consecutive days." The renowned Guinness World Records officially recognized her remarkable achievement, clocking in at an incredible 127 hours, surpassing the previous record set by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal, who danced for 126 hours.
Srushti's phenomenal dance marathon unfolded within the confines of her college's auditorium, where she received unwavering support from a jam-packed crowd of spectators. The Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator, Swapnil Dangarikar, expressed admiration for the event, highlighting moments where Srushti displayed signs of fatigue. However, her parents remained by her side, diligently refreshing her with water to keep her spirits high.
Fascinatingly, Srushti captivated the audience with Kathak dance style. Embarking on her awe-inspiring journey on the morning of May 29, she gracefully danced her way through five demanding days until the afternoon of June 3. Subsequently, she slept for an entire day.
The rules governing the dance marathon necessitated that Srushti's feet must be in perpetual motion. Equipped with unwavering determination and discipline, Srushti received extensive training from her grandfather, Baban Mane, who imparted his wisdom in Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation technique commonly known as 'yogic sleep.'
Over a period of 15 months, she meticulously prepared herself for this extraordinary record-breaking attempt. It was Srushti’s aspiration to represent India through dance that motivated her to achieve this momentous feat.
