Painting India in the Sky: Gaurav Taneja's Historic Flight

On Republic Day 2023, Gaurav Taneja, better known as Flying Beast, achieved something special. Taking off in a Cessna 172, Gaurav flew 350 kilometres in three hours to create a map of India in the sky. To achieve such a feat, Gaurav and his wife, who is also a pilot, had to prepare for months. The map-making process was difficult due to the lack of modern technology in the Cessna 172, unpredictable weather conditions, and the challenge of navigating the odd turns of India’s northeastern region. Gaurav posted a message about this accomplishment on Twitter. He tweeted that they had created history by drawing the largest map of India in the sky which entailed a three-hour flight. Many people liked and commented on Gaurav's post. Best wishes were also sent to Gaurav by members of the film industry. Gaurav was encouraged by his fans and members of the film industry, with actor Shilpa Shetty tweeting, “so proud to see ‘Bharat’ in the sky! Here’s to exploring newer heights”. Breaking Barriers: Woman Naval Air Operations Officer To Head Navy’s R-Day Contingent

This year, women's power will be on display at the Republic Day celebrations as the Indian Navy's Republic Day contingent of 144 young sailors will be led by Lt Commander Disha Amrith, a female naval air operations official and its tableau will highlight the "Nari Shakti" in the force. Along with Amrith, Sub Lt Valli Meena S will be one of the three platoon leaders for the navy contingent. Amrith, 29, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from BMS College of Engineering in Karnataka. She was a member of the National Cadet Corps Republic Day team in 2008 and had always hoped to march with one of the three armed forces during the celebrations in Delhi. The officer, a native of Mangalore, enlisted in the Navy in 2016 and, after finishing her training in 2017, was assigned to a significant naval base in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Speaking to PTI Amrith said that she is an aviator for Dornier aircraft and had been carrying out sorties in the plane. When questioned about the difficulties faced by women in the military, Amrith responded that she became stronger physically, and mentally, and is now more self-driven. She added that she was proud to be a part of the Navy and would continue to serve the Navy with full zeal and dedication.

Attend national festival celebration and be sincere for better grades : CBSC tells students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students have to attend the Independence Day and Republic Day functions to get their grades. According to the new rule by CBSE board, students from class 6 to 9 have to attend the I-Day and Republic day celebrations in the school in order to receive their grades. Apart from the regular studies and its assessment, new uniform assessment pattern requires students to assess students on their attitude, behaviour, and sincerity. Therefore they also need to show responsibility toward the nation and it is important to inculcate the feeling of patriotism. Taking all these things into consideration, the decision has been taken to make sure students do not miss these national festivals. Also students attitude with their friends and with teachers will also be taken into consideration. Now, there will also be a two-semester system with half yearly and annual examination. Apart from this there will be periodic test of 10 marks each twice a year. For 9 and 10 grades the students will be tested on the full book.

From Music To Service: Ashok Kumar Has Been Participating in the Republic Day Parade for the Past 26 Years!

Warrant Officer Ashok Kumar couldn’t be more excited. He has been participating in the Republic Day Parade for 26 years, leading the Indian Air Force Band contingent for 16 of those years. He is proud that his two younger brothers are also serving in the armed forces. Ashok Kumar fondly recounted how he had good memories of playing some of his favorite tunes, such as 'Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja' and 'Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon', as he marched past the saluting dais. He explained that it was a tough selection process to join the band, as members had to be mentally and physically fit, and had to have a certain playing capacity. The music was written by qualified personnel from the Indian Air Force. The martial music played this year as the troops passed the saluting dais was composed by Flight Lieutenant L S Rupachandra and Master Warrant Officer J A George, VSM. Kumar also shared that the band had performed abroad, in places such as Finland, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and that he had led the Indian Air Force Band in the Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk to mark the end of the four-day Republic Day celebrations. His daughter Rakhi Nagar shared her family's experience, saying that they kept a phone in hand to take pictures or record a video of him as he marched past the saluting dais. The family also loves to listen to him play the trumpet when he is home. Ashok Kumar who has completed a course on drum majoring plays the bass drum, side drum, trumpet, and bugle. He revealed that earlier they marched to Western music, but today Indian marching tunes are employed instead. Warrant Officer Ashok Kumar's dream of joining the Defence Forces had come true and he was proud that his brothers have also joined him in this noble service to the Nation.

Republic Day – Celebrating The Constitution Of India

For the Britishers, India was a country of resources which they ruled without any care or consideration for its people. They made rules which were known as Acts, the last one being the Government of India Act 1935. The Acts were biased and lopsided and denied basic rights to Indian citizens. That is why the country treasures its freedom. In 1946, The Constituent Assembly was formed and after lots of discussions and debates, the final draft was ready on 26th November 1949. It took the Constituent Assembly precisely 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to come up with the final draft. However, the Constitution was legally enforced on 26th January 1950 as it was on this day in 1930 when Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by British Regime. The Constitution of India is unique and grand. It is also the longest Constitution in the world with 25 parts containing 448 articles and 12 schedules. The original Constitution of India was handwritten in a flowing italic style with beautiful calligraphy by Prem Behari Narain Raizada. Each page of the Constitution was beautifully decorated by artists from Shantiniketan. The Constitution was written in Hindi and English and both the original copies are kept in special helium-filled cases in the Library of the Parliament of India. The handwritten Constitution was signed on 24th January 1950, by 284 members of the Constituent Assembly, which included 15 women. It came into force two days later on 26th January which is celebrated as Republic Day. The Indian Constitution is also considered to be the world’s best constitution as in 68 years of its adoption, it has undergone only around 100 amendments. The Republic Day is celebrated every year in India in honour of the Constitution which lays down the rights and duties of every Indian. The highlight of the day is the Republic Day parade that is held in the Capital, New Delhi. It commences from the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Raisina Hill on Rajpath past the India Gate. The parade showcases India's Defence Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage. Every year, India invites an important Head of State as the guest to participate in the celebrations. In a first, leaders of 10 countries from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN) member-states will be present as chief guests during the Republic Day celebrations this year.

India Celebrates 69 Glorious Years

India celebrates it's Republic Day every year on the 26th January to mark the day when the Constitution came into force in 1950. This year is the 69th year of India being a republic country. Every year India witnesses the parade that takes place at the India Gate. This day is celebrated with a lot of patriotism, joy and pride. The parade will showcase India's culture and heritage and will portray the beauty of our country. For the first time ever, this R-Day parade will be attended by 10 heads of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN). This year's parade will not only see participants from the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy but will also showcase over 700 students across the guest countries performing at the event. 27 Border Security Force(BSF) women personnel will present acrobats and stunts on the Royal Enfield for the very first time in history. Another event,"Bharat Parv" is being organized from 26th January to 31st January at the Red Fort to promote the rich cultural diversity and to ensure more public participation for the same. The R-Day parade will also display every states unique culture and heritage via tableaus which will be full of colour and a treat to every individual. Giving farmers a voice, this year, the government's research institute ICAR will for the very first time participate in the parade with a model showcasing integrated farming as key for increasing the farmer's income. Various awards will be announced on the eve of R-Day, such as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards will be given from people belonging to different streams of arts, science, sports, medicine, social work, public affairs, etc. A total of 795 Police personnel have been awarded medals on this occasion. Eighteen children including seven girls have also been selected for the National Bravery Awards 2017. They would also be participating in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath. This Republic Day let's pledge to be a better citizen and help the nation to build a good future for the generations to come.

Zakir Hussain is a man of no introduction — he is widely regarded as one of the greatest percussionists of all time and has been an inspiration to musicians across the world. The Tabla virtuoso has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, on this Republic Day. Hussain was born in 1951 in Mumbai, India and started playing the tabla at the age of three. He was trained by his father, Ustad Allarakha, who was also a renowned tabla player. Hussain went on to become a master of the instrument, combining traditional techniques with a modern, innovative approach. Throughout his career, Hussain has collaborated with musicians from various genres, including Indian classical, jazz, and world music. He has performed at major festivals and venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center. In addition to his performing career, Hussain is also an educator and has established the Zakir Hussain College of Music in Mumbai. The college provides training in Indian classical music and aims to preserve the tradition of Indian music for future generations. Hussain has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In addition to the Padma Vibhushan, he has received the National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and the Padma Shri. Passionate and Fearless, Trailblaber Zoya Aggarwal Knew She was Born to Fly

While for many, the sky is the limit, Zoya Aggarwal dreamed of conquering the skies. She knew she was born to fly and expressed her desire to become a pilot to her family who was taken aback and unrelenting. She was born at a time when girls in India were expected to get married, have children, and look after their families. It was no wonder then that when Zoya made up her mind to become a pilot, her mother cried and asked her to find a suitable husband instead. Aggarwal went on to have a distinguished career after receiving her license in 2004. Last year, she inaugurated the longest non-stop Indian commercial flight with an all-female crew. She was honored on national television during India's Republic Day celebrations after piloting the 17-hour San Francisco to Bangalore route. She also became a spokesperson for the UN agency for women. Perseverance is the key to success. Impressed by her determination after years of trying to dissuade her, her parents surprised her by agreeing to pay for her flight training. Aggarwal, who has the words "Born to Fly" tattooed on her shoulder blade, was one of only a "small handful" of female pilots when she started flying for Air India, the national carrier. She knew she was paving the way for the future of women in aviation in India. According to the International Society of Women Airline Pilots, India is now the country with the highest rate of female pilots.
