Google Doodle Remembers KK: The Voice That Touched Millions
Google honored the late Indian musician KK (Krishnakumar Kunnath) with a colorful animated doodle on October 25, the anniversary of his Bollywood debut. He first contributed his vocals to the song Chhod Aaye Hum for Gulzar's political thriller Maachis on this day in 1996. KK can be seen singing fervently into a microphone in the doodle. Google noted, "This Doodle celebrates Krishnakumar Kunnath, also known as KK, a successful Indian playback singer most known for his versatility," as their explanation of the doodle. The fact that he could perform in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati were some of the languages they emphasized in their graphics used.(Source: Google Images) The statement went on to say, "KK made his playback singing debut on the song 'Chhod Aaye Hum' on this day in 1996 as a feature in the film Maachis." The musical journey of KK: (Source: Google Images) Kunnath, commonly referred to as KK, was born in Delhi, India, on August 23, 1968. Prior to focusing entirely on music, he worked in marketing while attending Kirori Mal College. When he sent a demo tape to well-known Indian musicians in 1994, he got his big break and started singing commercial jingles.With the song Tadap Tadap from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, KK made his playback singing debut in 1999. That same year, he launched his first album, Pal, which went on to become a tremendous smash. He has sung more than 500 songs in Hindi and more than 200 in other Indian languages during his career, and he recorded over 3,500 jingles in 11 different languages.KK became one of the most popular playback singers in India after receiving numerous honors, including two Star Screen Awards and six nominations for Filmfare Awards. In Kolkata, the location of his final performance, a statue was constructed in his honor. After a heart arrest, KK passed away on May 31, 2022, at the age of 53.
