A major contributor to this achievement was the rising star D. Gukesh. With nine victories and one tie in ten games on the top board, the 18-year-old Chennai native drove the surge. His parents are Ms. Padma, a microbiologist, and Dr. Rajinikanth, a surgeon. His family sparked his interest in chess when he was seven years old. Bhaskar pushed Gukesh's parents to help him in his chess journey after realizing the potential in him.
