Snatching Glory: Bindyarani Devi wins bronze in the women's 55kg division.
Headlines Speak: Bindyarani Devi, an Indian weightlifter, took home a bronze medal on Tuesday at the IWF World Cup 2024 in Phuket, Thailand.
Bindyarani Devi made India proud by winning the bronze with a total lift of 196 kg (83 kg snatch + 113 kg clean and jerk) while competing in the non-Olympic women's 55 kg class. Her 203 kg attempt, which won her a silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, fell short of her goal. With a lift of 234 kg (103 kg snatch + 131 kg clean and jerk), Kang Hyon Gyong of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took home the gold medal in Phuket. Mihaela Cambei of Romania won silver, hitting a personal best of 201 kg (91 kg plus 110 kg).
The 25-year-old Bindyarani had a poor attempt in the 83 kg snatch early in the evening, but she was successful on her second try. Her second effort to lift 86 kg was unsuccessful. The Indian weightlifter scored 110 kg and 113 kg in her first two attempts at the clean and jerk. Nevertheless, Bindyarani's last effort with a clean and jerk weight of 119 kg was not successful. Bindyarani Devi thus took home a silver in the clean-and-jerk division. The IWF World Cup, World Championships, and Continental Championships feature medals given out in each category for the clean and jerk, total lifts, and snatch events.
In the women's 59kg Olympic Qualification Ranking, Bindyarani Devi is ranked 29th. A quota for Paris 2024 is awarded to the top 10 qualified lifters in each weight category according to the OQR. In the women's 49kg competition on Monday, Mirabai Chanu placed 12th in Phuket. She is now rated second overall, making it very likely that she will earn an Olympic quota for India in Paris in 2024. The IWF World Cup 2024 concluded on April 11 and just two Indians competed: Bindyarani Devi and Mirabai Chanu.

Bindyarani Devi, who was born in 1999, rose to popularity in the weightlifting world quite quickly. In December 2021, she won a gold medal in the clean and jerk section of the 55kg category at the World Championship. She defeated Tokyo Olympic Test event winner Ham Eun-ji en route to victory. Bindyarani trained in the same Sports Academy in Manipur as Chanu Saikhom Mirabai, the silver medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, and was inspired by her accomplishments. Sadly, though, the season came to an end when she lost to Adijat Olarinoye of Nigeria in the gold medal match at the Commonwealth Championships in Tashkent. This was a surprise setback, especially in light of her win in the same category at the 2019 Samoan competition.
For a considerable amount of time, Bindyarani Devi had been a great fan of Mirabai Chanu, calling her "Mira di." Bindyarani praises Mirabai's vital assistance and credits her as a guiding factor throughout her career. Bindyarani thanked Mira di in a statement following her silver medal victory the previous year, stating, "Mira di has been very important to my success." She is always there to assist me with training and technique." Additionally, Bindyarani remembered a noteworthy action taken by Mirabai: "She also made sure I settled in easily when I was new to the camp." Di didn't hesitate to give me the lifting shoes even though she knew I didn't have the money to purchase them." Bindyarani stated, "She was always an inspiration and her down-to-earth behavior made me her bigger fan." Bindyarani went on to compliment Mirabai's humility. These remarks express how much Bindyarani admires and respects Mirabai Chanu.
Takeaway ~ Power Of Ambition:
Aspiring objectives point the way to greatness like beacons of light. Setting high standards for ourselves fuels a fire inside of us that drives us to go above our comfort zones and achieve seemingly unachievable feats. These objectives can unlock our potential, boost our drive, and provide us with a distinct sense of direction.
Accept Stretch Goals: Ambitious objectives frequently force us to move outside of our comfort zones. By establishing stretch goals, we aim for results that are feasible but can seem a little bit out of reach. These objectives put pressure on us to change, learn new things, and unlock the potential we didn't know we had.
Break It Down: Divide your lofty objective into more manageable, smaller chores to avoid feeling overwhelmed and to keep your concentration. Make a plan that will lead you through the journey, complete with milestones. since you reach each goal, acknowledge it, since this will increase your confidence and drive.
Accept Failure as a Learning Opportunity: When pursuing large objectives, disappointments, and setbacks are unavoidable. But instead of seeing them as obstacles, see them as chances for development. Continue forward motion, modify your strategy, and accept lessons from your past errors. Recall that failure is only a step on the road to success rather than an indication of defeat.
Develop a Growth mentality: A growth mentality is necessary to reach big objectives. Accept the idea that you can improve your skills with commitment and effort. See difficulties as teaching opportunities, persevere in the face of setbacks, and maintain your resilience even when things appear to be moving slowly. Having a growth mentality can help you get over obstacles and keep improving so you can keep going farther.
