Newlyweds Spark Sustainable Sparkle Trend with 85% Cheaper Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are becoming increasingly popular among newlyweds as they opt for a more sustainable and affordable option to mined gems. According to a new survey of 1,500 spouses and engaged couples, 70% of respondents said they would be willing to choose a lab-grown alternative, citing value for money and sustainability as the top reasons for making the switch. The physical and chemical properties of lab-grown diamonds are identical to those of natural diamonds, but they can cost up to 85% less. Jewellers have reported that interest in lab-grown diamonds has grown by more than 2,000% in the last five years as people become more aware of this alternative option. In addition to being more sustainable and affordable, lab-grown diamonds are also less impactful on the environment, which is a growing concern for many people. A spokesperson for the brand Queensmith, which commissioned the survey, said, "It’s no surprise to see people willing to move away from mined diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds provide a great alternative that is less impactful on the environment, which is a big concern for most people.” While lab-grown diamonds may not be as rare as natural diamonds, they are just as beautiful and come in a range of colors including yellow, pink, green, orange, blue, and clear. The increased demand for lab-grown diamonds is expected to continue as more people become aware of this sustainable and affordable option.
