Seeking Medical Attention Becomes Easy and Fast Under This New Technology of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
From now on, patients can avail of a speedier OPD registration service through the Scan & Share functionality of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), a flagship program of the National Health Authority (NHA). The service, which began as a pilot program in one hospital in New Delhi in October 2022, is now offered in more than 200 medical facilities in 18 Indian states. The Scan and Share service is said to have saved more than 1 lakh patients’ time and effort within 75 days of its inception by enabling quick registration for OPD sessions. The major states employing this facility to improve patient care delivery include Karnataka, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Patients can share their ABHA profiles by scanning the special QR Code of the collaborating hospital or healthcare institution with any health application of their preference (such as the ABHA App, Arogya Setu App, EkaCare, DRiefcase, Bajaj Health, or PayTM). The Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) receives the patient's demographic information directly from their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), such as their name, guardian's name, age, gender, address, mobile number, etc., leading to digital registration. After that, the patient only needs to collect the outpatient slip and see the doctor. The OPD registration has been made simple, seamless, and accurate by this Scan and Share functionality. The process helps patients to register themselves, without standing in long queues.
