Orphaned At A Young Age, This Engineer Is On A Mission
Sagar Reddy was orphaned at the age of three and grew up in an orphanage where he dreamed of becoming an engineer. As per the rules, he had to move out of the orphanage on attaining the age of 18. He came to Mumbai and secured admission in an engineering college. He did odd jobs to make ends meet until he bagged a job at Larsen and Toubro. However, this engineer had a bigger dream to chase. He started reaching out to destitute orphans and launched an NGO ‘Ekta Niradhar Sangh’ in 2010. Reddy is now a father figure to over 1128 youngsters who are living a settled life. Currently, his organization cares for 236 young boys and girls – which includes all their needs from accommodation to education to guidance at the various rehabilitation units he has set up. A few sponsors are helping him by funding his noble task. Reddy has won many laurels for his compassionate act including the ‘Youth Icon Award’.
