For The First Time, Indore To Host National Wrestling Championship
For the first time, Indore will be hosting a national wrestling championship wherein nearly 900 senior wrestlers from across the country will participate in a show of pace, strength and agility. The Madhya Pradesh Wrestling Association will be hosting 62nd senior national wrestling championship and 20th women freestyle wrestling championship on November 15. The events include freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling in the boys category, while only freestyle wrestling will be conducted in the women's category in the three-day-long championship. Pappu Yadav, Olympian wrestler from Indore and secretary of MP Wrestling Association informed that preparations are in full swing and it will be a great opportunity for the budding wrestlers to witness the talent of senior wrestlers at the national level championship. For the upcoming championship, three arenas are being prepared at the Khel Prashal at a platform of 50 by 50 metres. This is a high voltage championship attended by Indian team selectors, hence wrestlers from all over the country are sharpening their skills to get noticed. On the basis of this event, wrestlers for Commonwealth Games and Asian championship will be selected. The matches will be presided over by 30 international referees. Wrestlers from 29 states, Railways and Services will take part in this prestigious championship including renowned wrestlers. Bouts will be played in 10 weight categories for 120 medals.
