Now, wildlife related activities at Mysuru Zoo

Going beyond just being a zoo, the Chamarajendra Zoological Garden in Namma Mysuru will now have an amphiteatre wheren wildlife related activities will be conducted. Being one of the famous zoos in the country, Mysuru zoo boasts of state-of-the-art facilities for their inmates. It has always been a major tourist attraction in the city. But to also conduct some research and study activities on the topic of wildlife. Now Mysuru zoo will conduct regular programs at this new constructed amphitheatre. The amphiteatre has been designed on the lines of Singapore zoo which also conducts many animal related activities. The total of cost this amphiteatre is Rs 2.30 crore and it will be soon be operational. The plan is to conduct regular workshops, seminars, awareness related camps on conservation at the amphiteatre. There will also be regular film screenings on the wildlife topics. As reported in the Times of India, Executive Director of the Zoo, Kamala Karikalan, says, “The inauguration date is yet to be fixed. The seating capacity of the amphitheatre, which will be used only for wildlife-related activities, is 500. The trees act as a natural canopy for people to sit and enjoy shows. There are two entries into amphitheatre. If time permits, even visitors to the zoo can attend events at the amphitheatre. The activities will be carried out in such a way that it won’t cause any disturbance to the animals and birds housed in the zoo.”
