Army helps Kashmiri students to crack IIT

Apart from countering terrorists and facing young stone pelters, the Indian Army in Kashmir has also been helping locals to clear the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), India's most competitive engineering entrance exam for admission to IIT ( Indian Institute of Technology). The Army has its own Super 40 batch of bright students to whom they offer intensive coaching so that they are able to crack the entrance exams. For the first time, five girls from the valley had joined the Army's Super-40 batch this year and two of them met with success. They are now eligible for admission to engineering courses in Jamia Millia University and Jamia Hamdard University in Delhi. The other trading partners of the Army for conducting the coaching are Centre for Social Responsibility and Learning (CSRL) and Petronet LNG. The main aim of the project is to help the brilliant, but underprivileged students of Kashmir to achieve academic success. Meenakshi Shai, chief manager of the Army's Super-40 batch project (CSRL) said that the Super - 40 batch has been in existence for the last three years and the number of students clearing the exams has been increasing by the year. Army chief General Bipin Rawat, on Tuesday, met the Super-40 batch and congratulated them.
