The alternative transport booms!
A wonderful initiative is going to be introduced by the government to curtail the number of private vehicles on the roads of Delhi. The planned launch of a double decker luxury bus which would run on alternate fuel would really be a great boon for people in the capital. As per the Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Volvo is ready to run buses on methanol, which can easily be manufactured in the country. "Plans are underway to introduce Double decker fleet of luxury buses to link cities like Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Ludhiana. The fleet will be air conditioned with services that include hostesses (on board)... and I assure you charges will be much economic, less than present as these will run on alternative fuel," Mr. Gadkari said while talking to NDTV The government is planning to construct an electric line from Delhi to Mumbai which will be reserved only for electric transport. The aim is to introduce alternate fuel like methanol, ethanol or electricity for pollution-free and cost-efficient public transport system. This will motivate people to use public transport instead of their own vehicle. Discussions are going on with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for running buses on ethanol as alternate fuel from sugarcane produced by UP Farmers. Nagpur city has already started using 200 electric taxis and they have 25 charging stations too. This plan can be implemented across the country. This will reduce the costs and boost the economy making India not only a cost efficient but also a pollution free progressive country.
