Singapore is about to witness a celestial marvel like never before as Gardens by the Bay transforms into a spectacular canvas for the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights, right in the heart of the city-state.  Introducing Borealis: In a groundbreaking initiative, Singaporeans and visitors alike will soon have the rare opportunity to behold the breathtaking beauty of the Northern Lights, a phenomenon typically taking place in regions like Norway, Iceland, and Finland. However, on May 5, a new light installation dubbed Borealis will debut at Gardens by the Bay, promising to captivate audiences with its enchanting display. A Stellar Collaboration: During an exclusive preview on April 22, The Straits Times offered a sneak peek into the meticulous craftsmanship behind this captivating spectacle. Renowned Swiss artist Dan Acher has meticulously crafted Borealis, employing 30 lasers and cloud machines strategically mounted on the towering trunks of the Supertrees. These elements work in harmony to recreate the captivating dance of the Northern Lights, enveloping the Supertree Grove in a celestial aura. As visitors are transported into the magical world of the Northern Lights, they will be able to enjoy a symphony of enchanting melodies, further increasing the charm of Borealis. Free for All: Scheduled to run every Saturday and Sunday from 9 PM to 9:30 PM, with additional shows on Mondays from 8 PM to 8:30 PM, Borealis invites visitors to witness this awe-inspiring installation free of charge. As part of the vibrant nightlife offerings at Supertree Grove, Borealis promises to join the staple line-up of night activities, including the beloved Garden Rhapsody light and sound show. From IRS Officer to Environmental Champion: The Inspiring Story of Rohit Mehra

Meet Rohit Mehra, the IRS officer affectionately known as "The Green Man of India." After years in the civil service, Rohit embarked on a journey to champion sustainability and environmental causes, driven by a deep desire to proactively make a difference in society. The turning point came in 2016 when Rohit's son had a school day off due to alarming pollution levels in Ludhiana, their residence at the time. Disturbed by the inability to provide clean air for his child, Rohit took it upon himself to address this pressing issue and began his transformative journey. Rohit, with unwavering support from his family, initiated five remarkable projects in various cities to enhance their greenery and livability. One of his pioneering projects involved repurposing single-use plastic bottles into containers for plants, resulting in over 500 vertical gardens nationwide. Notably, one of these vertical gardens at Ludhiana's Income Tax Department premises earned a spot in the Limca Book of World Records. Moreover, Rohit introduced the ingenious concept of "seed balls," nutrient-enriched clay-wrapped seeds distributed and planted to promote vegetation growth wherever feasible. He also transformed dump yards into thriving green forests using vrikshayurveda, a chemical-free approach to plant nurturing. Rohit's passion for conservation is truly exceptional. Recently, he established a hospital and ambulance service dedicated to the care of trees and plants, showcasing his innovative and compassionate approach towards greener living. Encouraging others to participate in his noble cause, Rohit conducts educational sessions and aims to create a thousand 'oxygen chambers' across India. Gardens Prove to be Butterfly Havens: Populations Skyrocket by 200%

Butterfly populations have experienced a significant increase in people's gardens compared to other habitats, a recent study has shown. The research, conducted by the University of Sussex and the Butterfly Conservation charity, found that butterfly populations grew by 200% higher in gardens than in other habitats. The study analyzed data from over 100,000 butterfly surveys conducted across the United Kingdom between 2000 and 2020. It found that gardens provided a more suitable habitat for butterflies than any other location, including farmland and nature reserves. The research team attributed the increase in butterfly populations to the availability of nectar-rich flowers and suitable breeding habitats in gardens. They also pointed out that gardeners could play a crucial role in conserving butterfly populations by creating butterfly-friendly habitats in their gardens. Mughal Gardens Opens For The Public

The Mughal Gardens will open it's doors for the public from February 6th. The very iconic Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan's will be open for public visits.  Mughal Gardens designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1917. As large as 15 acres this garden is a mix of Indian and Western architecture. The garden has various gardens including circular, spiritual, herbal, bonsai, tactile and a unique musical garden. Mughal Gardens, called the "Soul" of the President Palace will have an inauguration ceremony on February 6 by our President, Ram Nath Kovind and after which it will be open for the visitors from February 6 to March 9th. The timings will be from 9.30am to 4pm.

A Beautiful and Vibrant Attraction Awaits Visitors at Amrit Udyaan

The Udyan Utsav 2023 was inaugurated on Sunday by President Droupadi Murmu thus opening the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens, including the recently renamed Amrit Udyan, to the public starting Tuesday. According to a statement from the Rashtapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan will be open to visitors from January 31 through March 26, 2023, between 10 am and 4 pm. From March 28 to March 31, select groups of individuals will have access to the gardens. According to the statement, the following groups are allowed access to the gardens on the following dates: farmers on March 28, people with disabilities on March 29, members of the armed forces, paramilitary units, and law enforcement on March 30, and women, including tribal women's self-help groups, on March 31. One of the main attractions for tourists visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan is the Mughal Gardens, which are now a part of the Amrit Udyan. These gardens, which cover 15 acres, were inspired by the Mughal Gardens in Srinagar. A statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan claims that "A variety of gardens are located in Rashtrapati Bhavan. These formerly featured the Circular Garden, Long Garden, East Lawn, and Central Lawn. Additional gardens, including the Herbal-I, Herbal-II, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden, and Arogya Vanam, were created under the administrations of former Presidents Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind.  The President of India has chosen to give all of the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens a common name of "Amrit Udyan" in honor of the nation's 75th anniversary of independence as “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.” The government has previously changed the names of three other national capital landmarks: Race Course Road was renamed Lok Kalyan Marg, Raj Path was renamed Kartavya Path, and Aurangzeb Road at the India Gate hexagon was given the name of the late president and Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam.
