Dr Annappa N Bali is 79 years old, but that doesn’t deter him from offering his services to the society. Moreover, he charges only Rs 10 as fee and to some, he offers free treatment depending on their financial condition that he is able to discern. Dr. Bali himself had faced financial problems in his childhood and had to struggle and seek help to complete his MBBS. He has never forgotten those days and so he is able to empathize with people from economically weaker sections. A Line Of Patients Owing to Dr Bali’s expertise and generosity, people begin to queue up at his clinic from the morning. He is helped by three people to manage the line of people at his clinic. He treats around 70-150 patients in a day and at least half of them are treated free of cost. For, those who charge Rs 10, it includes the cost of injections, medicines and all treatments. Initial Struggle Dr Bali himself had to face many problems in his childhood due to financial constraints. He was able to educate himself by staying in a free boarding school. Later with the help of a few people, he was able to complete his MBBS and later did a diploma course in ENT before getting a job. Now, he need not chase money and therefore, generously offers his services to society. Dr Bali inspires us to selflessly serve the poor and use our talents and skills for the benefit of the society.
