Digambar Hansda Dedicates His Life For The Upliftment Of Tribals
Digambar Hansda is never tired of putting consistent effort for the development of tribal people and their language- Santhali. When Hansda became the secretary of the then Tisco Adivasi Co-operative Society, his main aim was to bring into mainstream all those who were marginalised. The organization aimed to equip the tribals with channels of self-employment and self-sufficiency. When Handsa felt that real independence comes from education, he worked hard to procure land and started an educational institution for the tribals. Hansda took an active interest in developing the Santhali language and designing courses for intermediate and undergraduate students. He even visited remote villages to collect folk-tales and songs from the villagers and made continuous efforts to compile them. Mr Digambar Hansda not only translated the Constitution of India in Santhali Language but has also made a significant contribution to the literary and educational fields. He has been conferred with the Padma Shri this year.
