Three Indian-born persons are among Britain’s top four richest people
The SundayTimes Rich List 2017 has been published. Three of top four richest people are of Indian origin.
The richest persons in Britain are India-born Srichand Hinduja and Gopichand Hinduja brothers. They have managed to be at the top of 134 billionaires. Their wealth is estimated at 16.2 billion pounds. It is 3.2 billion pounds more than their last year’s wealth.
The second richest person this year is the Ukrainian businessman Len Blavatnik.
The third richest spot is held by Mumbai-born, Iraqi Jewish origin, David and Simon Reuben, who have an estimated wealth of 14 billion pounds.
The fourth richest person is Steel tycoon Lakshmi N Mittal, with an estimated wealth of 13.2 billion pounds. His wealth has increased by 6.1 billion pounds than his last year’s riches.
There are a total of 40 Indian-origin people in the listed rankings. This includes the Gujarati brothers Mohsin and Zuber Issa of Euro Garages with one billion pounds at 133rd position.
Brothers Raj, Tony and Harpal Matharu of the Grange hotel chain are in the new billionaires with a wealth of one billion pounds.
The NRI, Lord Swraj Paul, is at No.194, with a wealth of 660 million pounds. Since last year his wealth has eroded by 80 million pounds, according to the Economic Times.
Not a single Briton is in the wealthiest top 4 in the 2017 list. The only Briton in the top ten is the current Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosevenor, at ninth position with an estimated wealth of £9.52 billion.
