App based auto rickshaws a welcome option in Mumbai

The Ola auto service has come as a big relief to many daily commuters as now they don't have to waste their time waiting for an auto to take them to their destination. Just like the Ola cabs, the Ola auto comes to the doorstep of the customer and follows the same cost model as that of any other rickshaw.  During peak hours many people face a hassle when auto drivers refuse to ply to certain places, but the Ola auto takes one to the required destination without the need to convince the driver. The auto drivers are also a happy lot as this app service means  more earnings, smaller waiting time and reduced fuel costs for them. Anil Maurya (38), who has been a rickshaw driver with Ola for the past four months said that initially it was tough for him to operate the smart phone to see fare costs, accept rides or even to log in, but now he has been able to understand the functions and is able to self operate. Drivers claim that the advantage of this switch is the independent operations and flexibility of work timings. Without the app, they had to hunt for passengers or wait in rickshaw stands for long sometimes. Now, after switching over to the app based system, passengers themselves opt for their rides and an electronic meter justifies the fare charged.  Another auto driver with Ola said that he had started earning almost double of what he would earn before on a daily basis, as I got to ferry more rides. This app based auto service has turned out to be a boon to both the drivers as well as the customers.
