Nation Celebrates Army Day Today
India celebrates Army Day on January 15th every year, to commemorate the taking over of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa’s (then a Lieutenant General) as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butsher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15th January 1949. The day is celebrated every year with enthusiasm at all the Army Command headquarters and national capital by organizing army parades including military shows. This year, the nation will be celebrating the 70th Indian Army day in the national capital. Indian Army is reputed for its dedication in protecting the frontiers of the country. It has always discharged its duties with utmost sincerity and many brave army men have laid down their lives for the nation. They have also served the citizens of the nations to the best of their ability during natural calamity and disasters. On Army Day, the nation pays homage and salutes these brave Indian soldiers. The nation celebrates the valour of these Bravehearts who face all the challenges and difficulties that come their way to save the nation and people. On this day, a tribute is paid at the “Amar Jawan Jyoti” at India Gate in New Delhi to the brave Indian Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. An excellent Army Day Parade makes Indians proud and the military show indicate the new technologies and accomplishments in the Indian Army. Tanks, Brahmos Missile, carrier Mortar Tracked Vehicle, 155 MM Soltum Gun, Advanced Light Helicopters of the Army Aviation Corps et al are displayed during the parade. The morale of the soldiers is boosted by presenting them the Bravery awards including Unit credentials and Sena Medals on this occasion. Serving members of the Indian Army take a pledge on this day to maintain their service and protect the nation from enemies. On 70th Army Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi further increased their morale when he greeted the officers and troops of the Indian Army and said that every citizen of the country has "unwavering trust and pride" in the Indian Army.
