An Unforgettable Display of Discipline and Tenacity: India’s 74th Republic Day
For the first time, President Droupadi Murmu led the 74th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, with the traditional hoisting of the national flag, followed by a rendition of the national anthem and a 21-gun salute. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a solemn tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. This year's 74th Republic Day saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi don a multicolored Rajasthani turban to represent the nation's diversity. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was the Chief Guest for the occasion and he accompanied the President from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to Karthavya Path for the grand Republic Day parade. On the 74th Republic Day on Thursday, India witnessed a remarkable display of discipline and tenacity as armed forces contingents and other personnel marched on the Kartavya Path, the renovated ceremonial boulevard from the British era formerly known as the Rajpath. President Murmu, in her address to the nation on the eve of India’s 74th Republic Day, paid tribute to the makers of the Constitution and highlighted the progress India has made towards women’s empowerment and gender equality. India has also been given the opportunity to promote democracy and multilateralism as the G20 Presidency. The President also expressed her appreciation for the Jawans guarding the borders, as well as the Paramilitary and Police Forces. The unfurling of the tricolor is the most meaningful moment of Republic Day and symbolizes the country’s unity, strength, and resilience.
