At the World Games held in Kathmandu, the women's team trounced their arch-rivals Pakistan 15-13, 15-12 to win the gold medal. It was a nail-biting final, but the determined Indian women’s team managed to clinch the title.
The men also posted a similar score of 15-13, 15-12 against their opponents, Bangladesh to defeat them and win the title.
The event took place from June 15 to 18 in Kathmandu in Nepal. The Indian teams emerged victorious although they had participated in the Games for the first time.
The World Games was organized by the International Sports Council (Canada). 11 countries participated in the Games competing in 42 different categories. Naresh Mann, the general secretary of the Throwball Federation of India congratulated both the teams.
In the semifinals, Indian men's team had earlier vanquished Malaysia 15-9, 15-10 and the women's side defeated Malaysia 15-10, 15-11.
Mann said that the players had worked hard to win a medal in the World Games and he hoped that they would continue to bring laurels for the country.
