Goa Miles, Goa Smiles: A Ride of Safety, Comfort and Dignity
A world truly moves forward when no one is left behind so let’s pave roads where every soul can ride! With this notion, for the very first time in India, Goa steered towards a revolutionary milestone in mobility with the launch of Ezy Mov’s specially designed Accessible E-Rickshaws. Introduced at the spirited Purple Fest, these vehicles are more than just a ride, they're a ticket to independence for people with special needs, senior citizens, and mobility-impaired individuals. Six such futuristic vehicles were set in motion, whisking passengers effortlessly from hotels to event venues, railway stations, and beyond. With ramps doubling as rear doors and state-of-the-art safety features, these E-Rickshaws didn’t just move people they moved hearts.
A Festival Where Barriers Took a Backseat
The Purple Fest, an ode to empowerment and inclusion, became the grand stage for these groundbreaking vehicles. Under the golden hues of Miramar Beach, Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phaldesai inaugurated the Wheelchair Accessible E-Rickshaws alongside Unified Beach Cricket, setting the tone for a truly accessible future. “This festival is more than an event it’s a movement,” Phaldesai declared, celebrating the freedom these E-Rickshaws offer. Saligao MLA Kedar Naik chimed in, highlighting how increased mobility would make essential services like healthcare more reachable.
Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Guruprasad Pawaskar, took pride in Goa’s commitment to accessibility. Designed to integrate effortlessly into Goa’s public transport fabric, they promise affordability and accessibility for all. Pawaskar also envisioned these E-Rickshaws working alongside municipalities and local bodies to deliver essential services like healthcare and turning them into more than just vehicles, but lifelines on the move.
Wheels of Change Rolls in Goa’s Streets: What's Next?
Safety, much like accessibility, took the front seat in these innovative E-Rickshaws. Featuring four-way wheelchair strapping and space for two accompanying family members, these vehicles ensure a secure and shared travel experience. As dignitaries like Panjim Mayor Rohit Monserrate and Taha Haaziq, Secretary of the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, joined the launch, Goa made a bold statement that mobility should never be a privilege, but a right. As the Accessible E-Rickshaws rolled onto the streets, they weren’t just ferrying passengers but they were carrying the spirit of progress, the promise of change, and the dream of an India where no journey is ever out of reach.
So, when you spot an e-rickshaw gliding through the heart of Goa, remember it’s not just carrying a passenger. It’s carrying someone who once watched from the sidelines, someone who never imagined sitting in a rickshaw like everyone else, but today, they ride with the sense of dignity in their heart. And as Goa takes the first step, may the rest of India follow because true progress leaves no one waiting at the curb but equally takes everyone forward. Here's to a future of inclusion and treating everyone on the same pedestal of love and accessibility to every basic right one deserves!
