Soon , many rules will be done away with while recruiting doctors and nurses in Karnataka's government hospitals, as the State Cabinet has allowed direct recruitment of doctors and nurses.
There are plenty of vacancies in government hospitals in Karnataka and more doctors are needed to tend to increasing number of patients. Around 1,285 specialized doctors (MD), 684 doctors (MBBS medical officers), 8,137 paramedics and 1,753 nurses will be recruited to fill the existing vacancies directly and not through the government's cadre and recruitment rules.
A similar direct recruitment policy will also be applied for the Ayush segment. Doctors who are already on contract with the government will not have to appear for exams and interviews. The Cabinet s also considering age relaxations and possible additional marks. They will be appointed on a special grade with perks.
There is a dearth of doctors and nurses and the government has been having a tough time to secure their services for government hospitals and primary health care centers because of the rigorous rules and regulations besides low remunerations.
This move of the State Cabinet will facilitate easy and prompt recruitment of doctors and nurses in government hospitals in Karnataka. It will especially benefit the rural areas where there is a shortage of doctors.
