One good turn deserves another. Mikah Frye, a 9-year-old boy was in for a surprise which he very much deserved for his selfless act. Mikah knew that he would be getting a $300 Xbox for Christmas. He calculated that he could buy 30 blankets with that amount. He chose to buy the blankets and gave away each one to a homeless person in need.
This kind act sprung from his own experience of poverty. Fate dealt a cruel blow on the family, three years ago when they lost their home and was forced to live in a shelter. Every day, Mikah would get a blanket, and every day, the shelter would have to take it back.
He knew how it felt to not have a blanket at night and to have to give it back. Now, that the family was doing better, the first thing he wanted to do was to give a blanket to the needy that they could keep with them. He wanted to make them happy by giving them a blanket which they will not have to return.
People came to know of his kind deed. The news spread quickly and caught the attention of Xbox manufacturer, Microsoft. They decided to do something for him. Mikah couldn’t control his tears when he opened a gift from Microsoft that contained the Xbox which was the same model as the one he had traded for the blankets.
Employees led Mikah to the back of the store, where Santa had bags full of gifts, including the coveted Xbox. The family was emotional.
