A humanoid robot by the name Sophia made global headlines when she was granted Saudi citizenship making Saudi Arabia the first country in the world to grant its citizenship to a robot.
The robot Sophia, capable of showing human expressions is designed by Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics. Sophia uses her artificial intelligence to help human lead a better life. She imitates human gestures and facial expressions and is able to make conversation on predefined topics.
Sophia, a human-like robot made her first appearance in India at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B), during its cultural extravaganza, TechFest.
Adorning a sari, the humanoid robot appeared in front of an audience of more than 3000 and had a wonderful conversation for 15 mins with them. She spoke on various topics.
She said, she is two-years-old and knows English and also a little bit of Chinese. She also added, "It is science which created me, but philosophy will take me forward".
