Celebrations of the World Heritage Week has begun in many parts of India. The World Heritage Week is observed from November 19 to 25 every year to make people aware of the importance of cultural heritage and its preservation.
In Tamil Nadu, a photo exhibition on the ‘Evolution of Chola Temples’ was held as the World Heritage Week celebrations commenced at the Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple here on Sunday.
The Archaeological Society of India is hosting the event while the Department of Arts and Culture is organising a cultural programme every evening in connection with the Heritage Week at the venue.
An epigraphy (study of ancient scripts) class was held for students at Adhi Jeganathaperumal temple in which students actively participated.
In Jammu, Minister of State for Education, Culture & Tourism, Priya Sethi called for collective efforts for preservation and restoration of State’s rich heritage. She visited the Heritage Wadia Museum in the PG Department of Geology and Zoology at GGM Science College Jammu. She asked the geology department to establish Wadia Centre in honour of the doyen of Indian Geology and institution builder D N Wadia.
Students from the schools and colleges enthusiastically take part in the celebration of World Heritage Week. They read different slogans related to the encouragement of the preservation of historical heritage and monuments of the country.
