Avani Chaturvedi becomes first Indian woman to fly a fighter jet. 

The powerful trio of Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh after becoming the first women fighter pilots into the Indian Air Force ( IAF), to take off IAF's MIG-21 ''Bison'', the supersonic aircraft. The 24 year old brave Avani set up another record of becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft (MiG-21 bison) solo. 

Avni was born in a small town in Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh. Her father Dinkar Prasad Chaturvedi, mother Savita Chaturvedi and brother Nirabhra Chaturvedi, who is a major in the Indian Army, were her actual support system who always stood by her side. She always wanted to be a part of Indian Army, wear the uniform and fly high. Especially her brother is a strong pillar of strength behind her. There were many challenges and hurdles but her determination and the training process that she had been through was above all excellence.

The approach in the Indian Air Force (IAF), to treat man and woman on the equal platform actually gives an opportunity to every woman to dream big.

Avani the inspiration for several women believes that if you are good professionally and competent enough, then everybody will definitely accept you. She says, “We all have it in us to overcome the hurdles, which are part of our existence. Dream big and then work hard towards achieving it. Never lose hope! Staying strong is important and nothing can stop you.” 

To witness the first woman to fly a fighter jet is truly a moment of pride for India breaking the tradition of only male fighter pilots.
