Ashley, Indiana’s all-new commercial-scale plastics-to-fuel plant will be converting plastics to energy sources. Children’s toys, plastic film, styrofoam and flexible packing will be recycled into products such as fuel and wax. The technology can also help generate raw materials used for reproducing plastic.
Constructions have already started on the plant and its finances have been secured by Brightmark Energy, a green energy supplier in San Francisco which is on a mission to offer innovative waste and energy solutions.
The CEO of Brightmark Energy and RES Polyflow, Bob Powell spoke about the technology with Waste Today as he said: “We are excited about the market’s confidence in the validity of this technology to economically convert single-use plastics for new uses. “This technology provides a strong incentive for diverting single use plastics away from oceans, waterways, communities and landfills by creating reusable value. Plastic pollution is such a pressing global issue, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to provide a solution.”
According to the report, At first, around 100,000 tons of plastics will be transformed into more than 18 million gallons of naphtha blend and ultra-low sulfur diesel and into another 6 million gallons of commercial grade wax each year. The plant will even put up the commercial grade wax for sale which is said to be purchased by AM WAX, a company that specializes in paraffin wax.
Our environment can benefit in several ways if plastic waste is treated in this manner.
