Do you remember the day when Vicks came up with an advertisement which left many people with misty eyes? It depicted the beautiful story of transgender, Gauri Sawant, and her adopted daughter. The ad was a part of the Touch of Care campaign by Vicks which garnered both recognition and praises.
Gauri is known for her contribution as a social worker as she started Sakhi Char Chowhi Trust in the year 2000, an organization that provides counselling for transgenders and also helps people who are diagnosed with HIV. And now she is planning to build a foster home for the children of sex workers.
Gauri brought her daughter home when she was just 4, the child’s biological mother was suffering from AIDS owing to which she died later. There was nobody to look after the girl which had a possibility of her becoming a part of the sex trafficking industry. But Gauri saved her life by adopting her.
The initiative of building a home for the sex worker’s children can safeguard the lives of several kids by providing them with a better life. The circumstances around a brothel are very unsafe and it's hazardous for a child to grow up in an environment like that. There are many sex workers who do not wish their children get dragged into the industry but, they somehow become a part of it which is sad.
We hope Gauri fulfils her dream very soon and give the innocent souls a life which they deserve.
