This festival is a major cultural celebration in West Bengal in addition to being a religious occasion. People look forward to Durga Puja every year because it fosters happiness, dedication, and a sense of togetherness.

Kolkata's Durga Puja is heavily embracing sustainability this year. Renowned north Kolkata club Lalbagan Nabankur has turned its Durga pandal into an exquisite green sanctuary with eight thousand live plants.  Each plant was carefully chosen over the course of five months to create a captivating ambiance that speaks volumes about the need for environmental protection and the role that trees play in preventing deforestation and climate change. 

Tapash Kr Roy, the club secretary, emphasizes that the true goal of this project is to cultivate a profound love for nature, rather than just raising awareness. Following the celebration, guests will be able to adopt plants or give them to environmental charities.

Environmentalist and Padma Shri recipient Dukhu Majhi, also referred to as "Gachdadu" (Tree Man), is spearheading the effort. His lifetime commitment to caring for trees infuses the occasion with inspiration and genuineness. This year's Durga Puja is more than simply an act of devotion; it's a trailblazing endeavor in eco-friendly travel, raising the bar for environmental awareness. And it's obvious that Lalbagan Nabankur is in the lead!

Authorities are still concerned about the problem of trash disposal, especially with regard to the immersion of idols following the celebration. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation and other municipalities are required by the rules of the Calcutta High Court to conduct this procedure with great care each year.
