A sleepy small village Adikadalayi near Kannur has come awake with surprise and admiration at the sight of a Russian couple who work tirelessly to learn the skill of organic farming from seasoned farmer EV Haris, 65, who owns a homestay there.
Bogdan Dvorovyi, 24, and Alexandra Chebbotareva, from St. Petersburg discovered Haris' farm by visiting the website Worldwide Opportunities On Organic Farms India. It had been a while since Haris registered his farm on the website, so he wasn't exactly prepared for a hard-working Russian couple to drop by.
When the couple expressed their interest and curiosity to know more about farming, Haris offered them accommodation at his ancestral home and even told them not to expect a lavish stay. However, he was amazed at how quickly they changed into full-time farmers.
Haris states that he is astounded by the couple’s dedication. They rise early and begin their job on the farm. They have no problem getting themselves dirty. While most of us would be averse to cow dung, they don't mind hauling cow manure to the field. In other words, they merely enjoy what they do.
Bogdan’s wife Alexandra also has a keen interest in farming and nature. She happily states that it is not a break from their routine but that’s their life.
