Dattareya and his son follow a routine to run 5 km daily. He took a liking for marathons and walkathons in January this year. When he successfully finished a race in January he coaxed his son to participate in marathons with him with the intention of inspiring youngsters. The duo has since been running a distance of 5 km daily. They have also participated in numerous events and in less than a year, Dattareya has won many medals and trophies.
Dattareya was inclined towards sports since a very young age. He was a fitness freak and a member of the school’s football team. He gave up sports when he joined the State Bank of Mysore as a manager as he couldn’t find time for it. Thirty years after his retirement, he has now returned to his fitness routine and is now an inspiration for all around him.
Dattareya currently is gearing up to represent India in the 21st Asia Master Athletics Championship in Malaysia on December 2 this year. He said that he derives his motivation from the energy, josh and love that people shower on him.
