T Giridharan, a freelance VFX professional went the extra mile to provide better education to kids in a tribal hamlet atop the Alleri hills. While he realized that much could be done to improve the conditions residing in the village, one particular scene caught his attention.
Numerous kids were sitting around a tree listening to a teacher. The young children were seated on rough, flat rocks, and the teacher's instructions were frequently obscured by stray winds or background noise.
Later, he came to know that the nearest government school was very difficult to access, an NGO had set up those classes for the tribal children. His heart moved and he decided to build a school for the children. Building a school atop a hill was a Herculean task and many tried to dissuade him, yet Giridharan was not one to be deterred.
Giridharan put together a team of friends, volunteers, and college students using all of the connections which he had developed over seven years of volunteer work in the community.
Giridharan said that they started the work of constructing the school in 2019 and received assistance from over 400 people in the form of cash, labor, bricks, cement, steel, and other building supplies. Thanks to all those good people, the work is almost finished after three years, added Giridharan.
The villagers are extremely happy and grateful as now their kids can go to school and they are no longer worried about their kid’s education.
