Littering water bodies is one of the world’s serious problems and Greenkayak, a Denmark based environmental nonprofit is using a unique way to reduce the issue. People can now explore the European cities for free only if they pick up garbage from the lakes and rivers while kayaking.
Greenkayak was launched in 2017 with an objective to diminish contamination of water bodies. And till now around 24,000 pounds of garbage has been collected through the initiative. Right from life jackets, to kayak, every necessary equipment is provided to people in order to make it a success.
In a conversation with USA Today, the CEO and founder of Greenkayak, Weber-Andersen spoke about how the waterways get polluted as he said: “In Denmark, people hang out on canals and eat pizza and unfortunately see trash floating by.” He also added: “You can’t take your shirt off and jump in, but you can get in a GreenKayak and make an impact.”
We hope numerous other people participate in this laudable project to reduce water pollution.
