As kids we couldn’t wait for unwrapping the gifts received on our birthdays however, for this Boise family, birthdays are not meant for receiving anything but, to give back to people. They built a little free pantry for their neighborhood where they keep foods for those who need them. And on their son’s birthday, the guests at the party were asked to get canned foods for the pantry instead of gifts.
It just took $40 for the family to build the pantry as they used recycled materials. Right from the family dentist to the neighbors, everybody contributes to stock up the food pantry.
While talking about the unique birthday celebration of their son, his mother, Macy Miller told KTVB: "Birthdays are a time of giving, and we don't need that much stuff. We don't need the amount of gifts that we get, so we were trying to find ways to direct the kindness to where it was more needed," Miller said. "This year Miles wanted to build something. So that's what we did for his third birthday."
The family not just keeps food items in their free pantry, but also some fun things such as water guns and color crayons.
The Boise family’s laudable initiative is making numerous people jovial and we hope they keep spreading happiness. The world needs more people like them.
