Age can never hold us back from doing anything. Athlete, Man Kaur is 103-years-old and she is still winning medals. Learning a particular skill depends on us and if the passion is alive, it can be mastered at any age. Padmini P S started learning how to paint at the age of 66, she is 82 today and her zeal is still intact.
Until now Padmini has come up with 200 artworks. She might have started learning painting after a certain period of time but, she always had an inclination towards artworks. And even today she makes sure to attend each and every painting and craft works class.
Padmini takes her painting classes from George Fernandez and not just that, from the past 11 years she has been attending embroidery at continuing education sub-centre at Women’s College in Vazhuthacaud as reported by TOI.
Padmini’s passion for artwork is what keeps her going. She recently conducted a painting and craft exhibition at the KCS Panicker Art Gallery which went on till Sunday.
Some of the styles of her artwork include metal imposing, glasswork, coffee style, and paper patchwork. While talking to TOI about why art has been an important part of her since childhood, she said: “My father used to draw building plans and also worked as a sculptor. I also have two elder sisters who used to create beautiful embroidery works. This was the scenario I was brought up in and so art was always around me. When I had an opportunity to learn it, I accepted it. It gives a special kind of energy and sometimes I can work on art and craftwork for long hours without feeling tired at all.”
Passion is something which must never die because if it does, living the dream that we want to might not be a possibility. Padmini’s determination is nothing short of admirable and we hope she comes up with many more mesmerizing paintings.
