On the occasion of 71st Independence Day of India we feel proud to be the largest democracy in the world . We are a country with diverse cultures and religions followed by over 1.2 billion people living in 29 states, each state having its own unique identity.

The rich heritage of India, its historical monuments, mighty rivers, beautiful landscape make us feel proud and at the same time arouses in us the need to protect and conserve them. Our people have immense talent, be it in the field of sports, art and technology. We need to guide the younger generation in the right direction and for that we need freedom, in its true sense.

Freedom from illiteracy

“Education is the key to unlock the golden door to freedom” These words by George Washington proves how essential  it is for the country to get freedom from illiteracy. The backbone of a country is its educated people. Every child has the right to learn. Since illiteracy and poverty are intrinsically linked, freedom from illiteracy will also put an end to poverty.

Freedom from corruption

Freedom from corruption should be the right of every person, irrespective of culture or social position. Sadly, it is the greed, lack of faith, belongingness and service attitude that is the cause of corruption in all strata of society. Corruption arises from the belief that money is power and the feeling of insecurity makes people resort to this vice. It hinders the development of the country as it erodes economic freedom.

Freedom from child labour

Freedom from child labour is the constitutional right of every citizen. There are many children in our country  living in such circumstances that they are forced into child labour. It is very sad that children by being forced to work are deprived of their freedom which means that their rights are confiscated.

Freedom from environmental degradation

The strength of a country is its natural resources and protecting the environment is the duty of every citizen. The pressures of overconsumption, population and technology is causing the biophysical environment to be degraded, sometimes permanently. It is imperative to take necessary steps to free the country from environmental degradation.

Freedom from hunger

According to UN, India is home to quarter of world’s  undernourished population. Although our country has developed by leaps and bounds, there are still millions of people in our country that continues to  struggle against hunger. Along with the implementation of science and technology to agriculture to increase yields,  another way to get freedom from hunger is by reducing food wastage.
