Living a daily life of a traffic police on the streets of Kolkata is the man Constable Arup Mukherjee. Mukherjee is much more than a just a Constable.
Starting the first noble initiative in 2010 by spending his savings of 4lac to build a school for the children of Sabar tribe, this man is on a journey to change the lives of the children who come from the neglected 'Criminal Tribe'.
The Sabar Tribe is the most backward tribe living in the Central forests of Kolkata. Hundreds of people from the tribe owe their education and employment to this man who is called the 'Police Dada' by them.
The Purba Nabadisha Model School only started with nine classrooms and just 20 children. Today the number of students has increased to 112. The school provides children with clothes, toiletries and a decent meal.
Mukherjee's work towards the backward criminal class has seen a reduction in the crimes. The people have given up their criminal life and are looking forward in educating their children for a better future.
