Usually, after school parents choose Bharatnatyam for girls and coding for boys. The 31-year-old co-founder of India Girls Code wanted to allow the children to make their own choice and with this, she started her organization for the girls.

Aditi Prasad with sister Deepti Prasad are working towards making the Indian girls great innovators and creators of tomorrow.

Indian Girls Code is an after school programme and also organises summer camps for girls above the age of four or five. This initiative which started in 2013 teaches girls by using hands-on tools. They use robots and other technical methods to teach their students.

Aditi and Deepti's initiative also educates the girls from underprivileged backgrounds and enables them with skills to break through the orthodox thinking and grow. After visiting several girls from lower backgrounds, Aditi decided to open an ashram for the girls.

The ashram currently has 50 girl students and every year around 25 are admitted. The girls at the ashram begin their classes from class IV. At the ashram, the students are taught in Tamil. The girls here talk about sensors and technologies even with limited exposure, says the progressive co-founder Aditi Prasad.
