International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) will see a participation of Indian this year. Seventeen-year-old Pune boy Advait Ganapathy will represent India at the Olympiad. After selected among other 20 students to take part in a camp at Anna University in Chennai now he will represent India at the Olympiad. Advait successfully scored highest marks in the theory and practical paper held at the end of the camp and will now represent the country in France this August. Advait who is studying in class XII at Doon Public School, Dehradun is all set to participate olympiad internationally.
The IESO was founded as by the International Geoscience Education Organization (IGEO). The Geological Society of India selects students for the Indian team. The aim of this Olympiad is to have friendly relation among young learners and also promote international cooperation by exchanging ideas.
As per a report published in The Times of India Ganapathy said, "The earth science Olympiad programme in the country involved four stages, including national-level entrance test, training camp culminating in the Indian National Earth Science Olympiad, pre-departure training camp and finally International Earth Science Olympiad."
He added, ”The camp was a big success. The interdisciplinary nature of Earth science has allowed me to combine biology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Videos from Toppr helped me clear basic concepts in science, and allowed me to understand the complex geological phenomena taught in the camp.”
