India’s fourth largest airline Spicejet launched a daily Delhi-Surat-Delhi flight service from Sunday. This flight service aims at providing a better regional connectivity in domestic sector and is apart of the summer schedule.
The inauguration was at Surat airport with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony.The flight was flagged off by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha. He was accompanied by SpiceJet Chairman Ajay Singh and others on board. On being asked about the new flight service, Mr. Ajay Singh commented that "SpiceJet is proud to connect Surat, one of the fastest growing cities of the country with the national capital. Our twice daily flights will offer immense flexibility to the corporate and leisure travelers on the SpiceJet network."
The flight was welcomed with the traditional water cannon salute at Surat airport and the first boarding pass was handed over to the first passenger of the new flight service at Surat airport.
Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha said that they are planning to connect Surat airport to many more cities. Surat will be soon connected with Patna and Ranchi followed by Jaipur, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The company considers Surat as an important economic hub which has been a fast growing market. This service is launched with the point of view the business travelers to provide them with flexibility.
