"Dream, Dream, Dream! Conduct these dreams into thoughts, and then transform them into action."

For numerous people in India, being normal means to behave like a woman if you are one, to take responsibilities of finance if you are a man and to get married right after crossing the age of 18 if you are a girl. And for them, accepting a man dressing up as a woman is difficult. But, the world is changing and we hope they change along with it too. For Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju being trapped in a male’s body for 20 years was definitely tough but, today she does not shy away from her identity. She is living a life that she always wanted to and is all set to become the first transgender doctor in Karnataka by the year 2021.
Trinetra was born as Angad Gummaraju and more than becoming a doctor, she wanted to become a woman. It was a moment of celebration for Trinetra and her parents when she got done with her gender confirmation surgery before a few months. The acceptance is important because when your family becomes your support system, coping with the world becomes easier. Trinetra’s parents are an example for all those who regret their child’s orientation.
21-year-old Trinetra finds the concept of surgery very beautiful but, she says that a lot of discrimination happens against the LGBTQ community within the medical fraternity. Therefore, the change must come from their side as well.
Trinetra is a 4th-year medical student at the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal and she feels the medical fraternity needs more people like her.
The Queer community is yet to experience the change which they actually want to see and for that, people need to keep their inhibitions aside and accept them the way they are.
