When you disrupt something on a regular basis, it dies a slow death and littering water bodies is an act that has been going on since ages. Various awareness campaigns have been organized to put an end to this deed of a human being but, nothing has stopped them from doing so. It was quite difficult for Ramveer Tanwar to alter the mindset of people at the beginning but, after bringing ten ponds back to life, today he gets noticed for the work he does. People listen to him and work with him to bring in a change.
Ramveer heads from Dadha village in Greater Noida and the sight of contaminated ponds in his hometown always left him in dismay. The thought of clearing out the mess crossed his mind when he was pursuing B.Tech. He also worked for some time at an organization but, later decided to generate awareness about water conservation and purify the water bodies.
Ramveer along with his team conduct Jal Chaupal meetings where they explain the aftermath of a polluted pond to the villagers. In a conversation with My Indian Dream, he stated: “Through Jal Chaupal meetings we tell the villagers how a clean water body can keep the environment safe as half of the diseases are spread from a contaminated water body.”
Right from segregating the plastics that are thrown into the ponds to other waste materials, Ramveer and his team clear both organic and inorganic waste and hand it over to the rag pickers as well as farmers. And when it comes to cleaning a pond which is quite deep, they use JCBs to clear it.
Ponds are dying with every passing day and according to Ramveer, it should be a matter of concern. He also feels that despite being educated people don’t even bother while contaminating the water bodies and its sad to witness something like that. Therefore, he urges everyone to come forward and do their part.
