Pune, the city known as the Oxford of the East has more reasons to cheer now. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is among the top-10 universities ranked by the HRD Ministry and 18th best across academic institutions in the country. While Fergusson college is ranked as 35th among the college category. 

Pune has always been known for its best universities and colleges and now vice-chancellor W N Gade believes that with few changes here and there, SPPU can surely be among the top-5 universities in the country. 

SPPU now plans to improve its presence on social media as this is what counts these days and many students take the help of online forum while making any decision about colleges and universities. Being on social media is also staying in touch with the changing trend and being in sync with the new technology and marketing style. 

While SPPU was ranked among the best 10, there were very few colleges and universities who participated in the ranking. There were only 20 institutions who participated and out of the 724 other institutions in the world. But mostly colleges participated appeared among the first hundred in the ranking. 

With improving on minute levels, SPPU is all set to make the university among the top five and this year also expecting more admissions.
