Making way towards Smart Cricket, this Champions Trophy 2017 will witness technology advent in the field of Cricket by three cricket players using bats with chips installed in it. Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin are among the Indian batsmen who will use this new bat.
Three players from each team will use these bats. The chips are installed in the handle of the bats and will store bat movements, images and strokes that can be viewed on the computer via a software. This idea has been brought up by the innovation partners of the International Cricket Council, Intel. With the help of data captured by the chip, the batsman can improve his game by focussing on his hand movements and bat swing patterns analyzing his best shot. There are already many devices or technologies used in cricket to analyze the game like the Decision Review System (DRS), the ball-tracker, spider cam and much more that help umpires for making accurate decisions.
The bats will be used in the very first match itself which will be held on 1st June 2017. India will play its first game against Pakistan on 4th June.
Information about the chip is yet to be released.
