To commemorate the third death anniversary of renowned cinematographer V K Murthy, The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, is paying a tribute by organizing a three-day festival starting from April 7.
V K Murthy was a well-known cinematographer of the classic cinemas like 'Aar Paar,' ' Pyaasa' and 'Love in Tokyo.' One of the many attractions in this festival is a talk by veteran filmmaker Govind Nihalani along with screenings of Murthy’s films.
Tom Alter will also be performing in the festival to a song from 'Pyaasa.' There will also be a tête-à-tête session with famous film maker Shyam Benegal who will share his experience about working with Murthy on the TV series 'Bharat Ek Khoj' based on Jawaharlal Nehru’s book ' The Discovery of India.' The festival will be concluded by the screening of film 'Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam.'
FTII is known to remember various film makers and other personalities who have devoted their life in the field of Indian Cinema. It is a good endeavor wherein the students the learning in the institute also get an insight of different personalities, see their work and also are able to listen to the discussion and specialized lectures by eminent personality from Bollywood.
