Ragging is the physical or mental torture which a new student is subjected to by his/her seniors. In order to curb this evil, HRD minister Prakash Javadkar, on Monday launched an app introduced by UGC which enables students to register complaints instantaneously.
Earlier, students would register their complaints through a website which was dedicated for this purpose. It helped to a great extent as records show that timely action has led to a drop in such cases. Yet, there is a need to eliminate this ill from its root in campuses.
Javadkar said that in the majority of cases, juniors are guided and mentored by their seniors. But few cases of ragging still prevails and these have to be curbed completely. The minister is determined to put an end to the menace of ragging. He said that ragging is unacceptable and anyone who had to undergo it will find this app handy to register complaints and bring the perpetrators to the book.
This app will work on the android system and will enable students to log in and register their complaints immediately. The complaint will trigger immediate action and all concerned will be informed accordingly.
This app will ensure the safety of students and will give them a sense of security.
